The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year….

I planned to release a story about my experience with my first European Christmas market in Denmark on my website. Instead, I have teamed with Teresa Schumacher from Candid Voyage to publish my very personal story of finding Christmas magic after a few hard Christmases in the hospital with my mom.

We decided to leave a famous bar called Balderdash and wander the streets, and that's where we stumbled onto the Christmas Market. We both were astonished there was one there. Maybe it was the drink I had, but I felt my eyes sparkle again from the bright off-white lights shaped into a reindeer standing by Santa's sleigh. As we walked around, I felt like I was part of Whoville, jammed pack in a middle of a square with dark red barns filled with holiday cheer and presents.

This random Friday night was magical because I found the magic again for two nights. To learn more about this, check out my full story on Candid Voyage.

For those of you who have a complicated relationship with the holiday season, know that hope is not lost. I encourage you to search for something that will bring the magic back into your life — whether it’s baking cookies, watching your favorite Christmas movie, or exploring a place you’ve never been and witnessing the holiday through a new lens.

Teresa Schumacher, along with her dog, is a solo and van life traveler based in Los Angles, California.  She created Candid Voyage to inspire a new form of travel and living that brings us back to our roots and fosters a healthy relationship with the planet, our non-human friends, and one another. Through her stories, she highlights that every place has a story to tell, from helping save monkeys at a sanctuary to reminding us about the healing powers of the great outdoors.
